Fall is officially around the corner. While the best “summer” weather is just upon us in the Bay Area, you may want to gear up for the cooler weather by picking up a new pair (or two) of jeans. Here’s a look at some basic styles to consider for both men and women.
This style is a go to staple for women and men, perfect for dressing up into the night or dressing down for a day of work. This style is characterized by being fitted in the thigh and narrow from knee to ankle. Skinny jeans are fantastic in the fall, especially when boot season comes back around. Just remember "skinny" shouldn't mean "skin tight" - look out for a pair that allows you room to move and that can slip over the top of your ankle boots with ease.
Straight leg jeans are the most basic of jeans style, best described as just the normal type jean. They are comfortable in the thigh and straight from knee to ankle. This fit is one of the most classic cuts. It never goes out of style, and they suit practically any body type. Levi’s 501 Jeans are the iconic straight style.
This relaxed-fit style is now a staple in women's closets. They have a fairly relaxed fit, usually straight legs that may or may not be cuffed at the bottom, and they should look a bit big on the wearer. The boyfriend jean is a great look in general, but it must also be worn correctly by fitting properly around the waist, so that the jeans do not bunch up at the top or sag in the rear. Typically, pairing this look with heels is the best way to wear it. However, Converse, booties and other similar shoes can match the look as well.
Mom (That’s right… Mom)
They’re baaack… but that’s not a bad thing. Sometimes, mom or high-waisted jeans can be magical, fashion-forward, unexpected and just what you need to turn an outfit from boring to extraordinary. Known for their comfort, you can wear these all day. Characterized by a high waist and slim line leg, this style of Mom jean is super flattering and great at creating all the right proportions on both slim and curvy figures. Style rolled to the ankles and show off the high waist with a crop top. They're perfectly polished and begging for our favorite skinny belts — plus, they're totally OK to wear to the office.
So, on your quest for denim this fall, remember what has worked for you in the past, but don’t be afraid to try something different.
